Banana-Pineapple-Fig Smoothie

Summer is the best time for fresh fruit. Fruit salads taste great, but smoothies are a fun way to get all the nutrition of fruits either as a whole breakfast or just as a energizing snack.


Tip: If you have any bananas that have a lot of black spots on them, and you have no idea what to do with them, just put them in your freezer. Frozen bananas are great for smoothies.

Ingredients for the Smoothie-

Serves 2

  1. 1 Frozen Banana- peeled and sliced
  2. 2 slices of Pineapple- cut into pieces
  3. 2 figs( or dry figs)
  4. 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt( I use Fage), but homemade yogurt that has not turned sour works perfectly well.
  5. Honey- 1 Tbsp
  6. 1 pod of cardamom( Optional)- Powdered
  7. Cold milk- about 1/2 cup

The milk has to be cold, because Pineapple is acidic and can cause the milk to curdle if it is at room temperature. This is true of all fruits like strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, kiwis, Peaches, etc. The more sour they are the more acidic they tend to be.

Blend all the ingredients together and serve chilled.
