Absolutely nothing beats the flavors a freshly made masala powder can lend to a dish. 

Made some Bisibelebhath powder today. Thought I would share the recipe, if anyone would like try…

Makes the most authentic Bangalore Bisibelebhath

Ingredients:

  1. Chana dal 2 tsps
  2. Urad dal 1 tsp
  3. Coriander seeds 2 Tbsps
  4. Cinnamon 2 inch piece
  5. Fenugreek 1/2 tsp
  6. Mace 1 flower
  7. Nutmeg 1/4 tsp grated
  8. Marathi moggu( I don’t know what the substitute is) 2
  9. Cardamom 2
  10. Cloves 4
  11. Byadgi chilies- about 8 to 10
  12. Grated dry coconut- 4 Tbsp( dessicated coconut stores longer, if you plan not to use immediately) 
  13. Poppy seeds( optional) 2 Tsps
  14. Rasam powder 2 Tsps

Roast all the ingredients till fragrant. Cool and powder. You can either directly use this powder to make the Bisibelebhath or grind with some fresh coconut and then add it.
